The Christmas Carnival features a giant snowman and the "Four Treasures of Taichung," creating an exceptionally lively atmosphere

Taichung City Government Christmas Carnival12Month9to25at the Civic Square on Taiwan Boulevard,12Month9at7PM, this year’s Christmas Carnival has been expanded with additional amusement facilities and extended opening hours to ensure visitors have a more enjoyable experience.

This year’s carnival specially incorporates2018elements of the Taichung World Flora Exposition, featuring grand floral displays and a large installation art piece of the “Four Treasures of Taichung”—the Formosan black bear, pangolin, leopard cat, and Taiwanese white dolphin—in front of the Christmas tree, transforming the Civic Square into a dazzling carnival. Additionally, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance’s Taiwan Printing Exploration Museum, recycled paper trimmings from unified invoices were used to create a2meter-tall “eco-friendly snowman,” forming a whimsical and elaborate family of paper snowmen.

2016The Taichung Christmas Carnival square features a18meter-tall Christmas tree, as well as amusement rides such as a Ferris wheel, coffee cups, carousel, spinning pirate ship, hot air balloon, and mini train. In addition, the event includes gingerbread houses, large cute mascot installation art, festive light displays, and a block-building experience area—perfect for family fun.

The Christmas Carnival lighting ceremony is scheduled for12Month9at7PM, featuring performances by artists Jia Jia and Wei Ru-yun, as well as interactive activities with ETTV Family artists and children. Local Taichung block toy company Zhi Gao Industrial Co., Ltd. will donate300sets of Taiwan-made, safety-certified block toys to children at care facilities as Christmas gifts.
