The millennium-old ancient prayer ceremony illuminates a thousand lanterns during the Bean-Throwing Festival Lantern Night

Japan has numerous prayer festivals and events, each with its own cultural history and local characteristics. What HowToTrip wants to especially introduce is Kasuga Taisha in Nara. One of the grand ceremonies at Kasuga Taisha – the Bean-Throwing Festival Lantern Night – will light up a thousand lights on the day of Setsubun and on August 14 and 15 each year, symbolizing prayers for the world.
