Every year when cherry blossom season arrives, the entire island of Taiwan is blanketed in pink blooms, creating a romantic atmosphere. Some cherry blossom scenes can even rival those in Japan, so visitors might want to jot down the following recommended spots.

1. Taipei – Yangmingshan
Yangmingshan is a well-known area for cherry blossom viewing in northern Taiwan, including Pingjing Street, Dongfang Temple, Neicuo Stream Cherry Blossom Corridor, and Qianshan Park.
 
Cherry blossom season: Late January to late February
By car:
1. Qianshan Park – Take the Zhongshan Expressway to Taipei Interchange, then connect to Chongqing N. Rd. (Provincial Hwy 2B), cross Baoling Bridge, continue on Zhongzheng Rd., turn onto Fulin Rd., and then connect to Yangde Blvd. (Provincial Hwy 2A) to reach the destination.
2. Yangmingshan Park – Take Provincial Hwy 2A to Hushan Rd. Section 1.
3. Datun Waterfall Area – Take Hushan Rd. Section 1 to Hushan Rd. Section 2.
4. Zhongxing Rd. – Take Hushan Rd. Section 1 near Yangmingshan Park and connect to Zhongxing Rd.
5. Visitor Center, Yangmingshan China Lily Hotel – Located on Provincial Hwy 2A.
6. Jing Shan Rd. Lane 101 – Take Provincial Hwy 2A to Xinyuan St., then turn onto Jing Shan Rd. Lane 101.
7. Sulfur Valley – Take Hushan Rd. Section 1 to Hudi Rd., then connect to Quanyuan Rd.
8. MASON Plateau – Take Quanyuan Rd. and turn onto Xingyi Rd.
 
Public transportation:
1. Qianshan Park, Yangmingshan Park, China Lily Hotel – Take bus 260 from Taipei Railway Station or bus Red 5 from Taipei Metro Jiantan Station. Get off at China Lily Hotel stop (Yangmingshan China Hotel Stop), Teachers’ Center Stop for Qianshan Park, and Yangmingshan Stop for Yangmingshan Park.
2. Datun Waterfall Area, Sulfur Valley – Take bus Little 9 from Taipei Metro Beitou Station. Get off at the back gate of Yangmingshan Park for Datun Waterfall Area, and at Mituo Temple Stop for Sulfur Valley.
3. MASON Plateau – Take bus 508, 535, or Little 8 from Taipei Metro Shibaishi Station, and get off at Xingyi Rd. Stop 2.

2. New Taipei – Sanzhi Cherry Blossom Season
Since 1996, Sanzhi has planted cherry blossom trees along roadsides, including mountain cherry, Yoshino cherry, and double-flowered cherry varieties. There are now up to 17,000 trees, stretching nearly 70 kilometers. The best viewing spots are Qingshan Rd. and Dahu Rd.
 
Cherry blossom distribution: Dahu Rd. (County Hwy 7), Zhilan Rd. (County Hwy 7-1), Qingshan Rd., Pingshan Rd. (County Hwy 15), Longshan Rd. (County Hwy 18), Sunshine Rd., Yulin Rd., Fuhu Rd., Xidi Rd., Fenglin Rd. (County Hwy 10), Xinxing Rd. (County Hwy 8), Xinlin Rd. (County Hwy 6), and Wei Nei Rd. (Bantianliao) among others.
Cherry blossom season: February to mid-March

3. Taoyuan – Lala Mountain En’ai Farm
Lala Mountain Farm in Taoyuan offers beautiful scenery and flower fields throughout the year. During cherry blossom season, the entire farm is covered in a sea of pink blossoms, making it a must-visit spot for tourists.

By car:
1. Take the Daxi Interchange off National Freeway No. 2 → connect to Provincial Highway No. 7 (North Cross-Island Highway) over Baling Bridge → head toward Lala Mountain → ascend to Baling.
2. From Taipei, take Provincial Highway No. 3 via Sanxia to Sanmin → connect to Provincial Highway No. 7 (North Cross-Island Highway) → cross Baling Bridge → head toward Lala Mountain → ascend to Baling.
3. Take Provincial Highway No. 4 in Taoyuan → Daxi → connect to Provincial Highway No. 7 (North Cross-Island Highway) → cross Baling Bridge → head toward Lala Mountain → ascend to Baling.
4. From Yilan, take Provincial Highway No. 7 toward Datong → Nioudou → at Baiteo Bridge, head toward Mingchi → cross the Da Han Bridge → head toward Lala Mountain → ascend to Baling.
 
Public transport:
1. Zhongli Bus — 06:00 (departing from Taoyuan, opposite Ta Yi Electronics) 11:40 (departing from Zhongli, opposite Lai Lai Department Store, via Taoyuan)
2. Taoyuan Bus — 08:00 (departing from Taoyuan, rear train station) 10:00 (departing from Zhongli, rear train station)
3. Daxi to Lower Baling – bus departure times: 06:40, 11:10, 13:10, 15:00, 17:00
4. Lower Baling to Daxi – bus departure times: 06:20, 07:20, 09:30, 13:30, 16:30
5. Lower Baling to Daxi – bus departure times: 06:20, 07:20, 09:30, 13:30, 16:30

4. Hsinchu - Wanli Mountain Garden
Wanli Mountain Garden is a beautiful hidden gem in Hsinchu. During cherry blossom season, the mountains seem to be dyed pink, creating a stunning view.

Cherry blossom viewing season: Late February to early March
Opening hours: Reservation required during cherry blossom season; priority entry for those with reservations. Ticket price NT$150 not applicable as store credit.
By car:
1. Heading north: exit at Zhulin Interchange → Neiwan → Natural Valley → Yu’lao Police Station → Lidongshan → go to the end at the 6.2 km fork in the road.
2. Heading south: exit at Guanxi Interchange → Neiwan → Natural Valley → Yu’lao Police Station → Lidongshan → go to the end at the 6.2 km fork in the road.
