Step into a fairy-tale world: Chiayi’s “High Heel Chapel” debuts new nighttime lighting on March 22

Wu Junjie, director of the Budai Management Station at the scenic area administration, said that previously there were few nighttime activities in the Budai area after dark, leaving tourists with limited options for evening entertainment. To promote the tourism industry in Budai, the administration has created a Baroque-style light sculpture display themed “Cinderella Garden,” integrating the lighting of the High Heel Chapel building and extending the displays outward from within the precinct, offering a new romantic nighttime spot for visitors.

The Cinderella Garden Light Show will run for 45 consecutive days starting March 23 in the High Heel Chapel precinct. Wu Junjie noted that 12 food stalls have also been set up near the chapel, which will later introduce local agricultural and fishery specialties through managed vendor operations, adding further appeal to the Budai area’s tourism offerings.

Will there still be opportunities to enjoy the light displays after the 45-day show ends? Wu Junjie said that after the event, the light displays are tentatively planned to take place regularly on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. However, depending on the public response during the 45-day period, if the effect is positive, they may also consider making the light shows available on weekdays.
