Founded in 1980, the Japanese name of MUJI means “no-brand goods.” With its fashionable brand ethos of simplicity and cleanliness, it offers a range of lifestyle sundries, clothing, and food products. Its plain yet stylish image has won widespread public affection. As soon as you step into a store, you’re enveloped in a natural, comfortable atmosphere that brings a sense of leisure—and makes it hard to leave. After years in business, MUJI decided to create the world’s first MUJI Hotel in 2017. Surprisingly, the location chosen wasn’t Japan but Shenzhen, marking the first step in expanding the MUJI Hotel brand globally, bringing its philosophy directly to the public.
