Asia's First Monchhichi Café Debuts in Macau’s Taipa Village

Since its launch in Japan over 40 years ago, Monchhichi has garnered a massive global fanbase with its adorable design. While Monchhichi has previously opened limited-time restaurants in Japan, this is the first time a sago pudding-themed café has appeared in Asia. Sago pudding, originating from Portugal, is a dessert made by layering cream and cookie crumbs, then freezing them. After being introduced to Macau, it became a beloved local sweet. This themed café combines Macau’s classic Portuguese-style desserts with the iconic Japanese character Monchhichi, offering fans and dessert lovers a delightful and charming culinary experience.

The MONCHHICHI SERRADURA Sago Pudding Theme Café offers a variety of desserts, coffees, and flavored drinks—all adorned with MONCHHICHI cartoon images. When purchasing a sago pudding, customers receive a complimentary cookie and a small wooden mallet to personally crush the cookie and sprinkle the crumbs on top, recreating the final step of making the dessert. Additionally, visitors can browse and purchase Monchhichi plush toys in various shapes and styles, making for great gifts or keepsakes. The upper floor of the café also features a cute and playful photo area for fans to snap memorable pictures with their favorite character.
