Temperatures drop sharply starting Friday, January 13th, with unstable weather expected over the weekend

In terms of temperatures, the north will see readings between 15–18°C, central and southern areas between 17–22°C, with the Kaohsiung-Pingtung region possibly reaching up to 25°C. The outlying islands of Kinmen and Lienchiang will be cooler, around 11–15°C.Under the influence of the northeast monsoon, as well as a tropical depression and its peripheral circulation, strong winds at sea will also intensify, averaging 6–7 on the Beaufort scale. By the evening of January 13th, average wind speeds in the northern Taiwan Strait are expected to rise further to 7–8, with maximum gusts reaching force 10.Boaters should exercise particular caution. Aside from the Kaohsiung-Pingtung area, rain is expected across nearly all of Taiwan on Saturday, so those heading out should be sure to bring rain gear.
