Heavy snowfall hits Japan; Meteorological Agency urges vigilance against snow disasters

This strong cold air mass is mainly affecting areas on the Sea of Japan side. Temperatures in regions such as Kanazawa and Niigata in Hokuriku will drop to between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius, entering conditions of heavy snow and snow accumulation. Although weather on the Pacific side is relatively clear, temperatures in some areas have fallen below zero. Tokyo will also experience temperature differences of over 10 degrees, with early mornings and nights around freezing. Travelers planning to visit Japan recently should pay close attention to low temperatures and snowfall information, dress warmly, and those opting for self-driving tours should be especially mindful of vehicle conditions and whether the weather is suitable for driving.
