The spectacular new landmark on Mount Taiping, the Duowang Suspension Bridge, offers breathtaking views of the coastline

Situated in Yilan, Mount Taiping National Forest Recreation Area is home to Taiwan’s abundant natural ecology, with magnificent mountain landscapes and dramatic valley views that inspire wonder. Recently, a new landmark was established here—the Duowang Suspension Bridge, which replaced the original iron bridge in the park’s hot spring area at an altitude of 520 meters. This section spans the fast-flowing Duowang River, where sharp river bends and constriction often lead to erosion during typhoons and heavy rains, posing disaster risks. As part of comprehensive mountain and flood control efforts, the iron bridge was relocated and renovated. The project was completed and named at the end of December 2016 (the 105th year of the Republic of China), and it also won the Outstanding Agricultural Construction Award that year. The Luodong Forest District Office has scheduled the inauguration event for the Duowang Bridge on January 24, 2017 (the 106th year of the Republic of China).
