Japanese ramen brands have been entering the Taiwanese market for years, and in recent times, the number of new entrants has remained high, with increasingly novel concepts and pedigrees. The 70-year-old Japanese noodle maker “Tokyo Abura Soba” emphasizes “no soup,” sparking curiosity among Taiwanese diners and riding on its reputation as a favorite ramen brand. Its first overseas branch has opened in Taipei, debuting in Taipei’s East District on February 15.

“Tokyo Abura Soba” offers a range of richly flavored ramen options, along with a daily limited-edition miso ramen set (limited availability). The Tokyo-based shop, originally from Ikebukuro, Tokyo, has set its opening hours in Taiwan as “as early as possible” and encourages those interested to line up early at the store.
