The Wizard of Oz-like stunning deserted island forgotten by time, a ghost village

Located in the northeast of Shengshan Island, Zhejiang Province, China, there was once a bustling fishing village known as Little Taiwan — Houtouwan Village. Shengshan Island is the place in China to witness the first sunrise over the sea and is connected by a bridge to Gouqi Island. It is one of China's most important fishing grounds, where people make a living from fishing. This remote village was once home to more than 2,000 fishermen, but due to inconvenient transportation and cramped living conditions, residents gradually relocated. Over the following half-century, it was forgotten by people, and the houses from those days are now entirely covered by vines. It has come to be known as the Green Ghost Village and has become an alternative popular attraction.
