A Hidden Sakura Spot: Rare Pink Sakura Tunnel in Full Romantic Bloom

Revered as one of the most beautiful cherry blossoms, the weeping cherry features slender, willow-like branches adorned with cascading blooms, creating a breathtakingly picturesque scene. There are many varieties of weeping cherries, but they are relatively rare in Taiwan, mainly due to incompatible grafting rootstock systems. Situated at the intersection of Fangyuan Township in Changhua County and Wuri District in Taichung City, the Fangyuan Flower Leisure Park became an instant sensation several years ago due to its rare weeping cherries, quickly turning into a popular cherry blossom destination in central Taiwan. Spanning over 5 hectares, the sakura garden features a 150-meter-long cherry blossom tunnel. The park is home to a variety of cherry trees including Somei Yoshino, weeping cherry, purple cherry, and Kawazu cherry, displaying blossoms in varying shades of color for an incredibly vibrant display. The park even offers free admission, fueling a local cherry blossom tourism boom in Fangyuan Township. Currently, the weeping cherries in Zhoushu are nearly in full bloom, making it the perfect time for viewing. Other sakura-lined paths will continue to bloom before the end of April, allowing visitors to enjoy the spectacle without traveling to Japan or heading up to the mountains — right here by the Wu River.
