Absolutely don’t want to put the book down — Taiwan’s most stylish Nordic-style library

School libraries generally evoke a serious atmosphere and monotonous vibe, where people come and go to browse and borrow books, and they’re not usually the first place most students want to go after class. But Zhongxīng Junior High School in Taichung City has turned this concept on its head. In 2016, the school invited the local spatial design firm Da Yicao Design to completely redesign the space, using freedom as the core concept. The result is an interior full of vibrant colors and soft lines that creates a relaxing and fashionable atmosphere, completely different from the usual sternness of traditional school libraries. Students have responded enthusiastically, saying it’s a super comfortable reading environment.
