Alishan Cherry Blossom Season Begins with Latest Updates on Steam Train Services

The Alishan Cherry Blossom Season officially begins on March 10 and runs through April 10. In conjunction with the blossom season at Alishan Forest Recreation Area, aside from implementing transport controls on public holidays, the Alishan Forest Railway's Zhiping Line will also operate steam locomotives along with four cypress wood carriages during specific morning services on Wednesdays—starting on the season’s opening day of March 10 and continuing throughout the season. Currently, Alishan’s Yoshino cherry tree “Cherry King” is still mostly in bud with only a few early blooms; full bloom is expected in about a week. The best viewing time will be in late March, and there’s also a chance to see the Yoshino cherries in full glory during the Qingming holiday. Meanwhile, the extremely popular “Little Cherry King” Tangshi cherry is currently around 80% in bloom—nearly fully open—and is a great time for cherry blossom viewing. The flowering is expected to last for about another week.
