The cherry blossom season has officially kicked off, with famous viewing spots and hidden gems across Taiwan bursting into bloom and sparking a frenzy of blossom chasing. Located in Sanxia, New Taipei City, the Xiongkong Cherry Blossom Forest spans over 20 hectares of mountainous land and is planted with more than 30,000 cherry trees. The entire mountainside is covered in layers of pink, creating a dreamy landscape that is in no way inferior to Japan’s renowned cherry blossom sites. This woodland is private property, but the landowner generously allows visitors to enter for free, attracting numerous tourists to come and admire the blossoms. The Xiongkong Cherry Blossom Forest is situated on a mountainside at an altitude of 500 meters. The landowner has spent 20 years cultivating the area, which features varieties such as Somei Yoshino, Yaezakura, Kawazu-zakura, and Showa-zakura. The current period is the best time for viewing, with the blooms expected to last until May.
