The world’s longest new building: A U-shaped skyscraper makes its debut

Since the completion of Taipei 101 in 2004, which held the title of the world’s tallest building from 2004 to 2010, other countries have also followed suit in constructing their own tallest buildings. Currently, Taipei 101 ranks as the ninth tallest in the world. Amid the global trend of soaring skyscrapers, New York City in the United States is also set to build a U-shaped skyscraper called “The Big Bend,” which will become the world’s longest building upon completion.

This skyscraper was designed by the American design firm Oiio Studio, which recently released the building’s design plans. It features an inverted U-shape and has a total length of approximately 4,000 feet (1.2 kilometers). Oiio Studio stated that the developer aimed to construct a high-rise using minimal land, so they conceived the idea of creating the longest rather than the tallest building — hence the design of this U-shaped tower.
