Manhattan’s “Vegetable Ship” Makes a Strong Comeback in April—Free Foraging for Visitors!

The popular vegetable ship Swale from last summer is back, and it will once again dock in Manhattan this year. The highlight? Some services have even been upgraded.

According to cntraveler.com, this approximately 140-foot vegetable ship only sails in the summer,Visitors can board the ship to harvest vegetables, ranging from kale, cilantro, asparagus to artichokes. This year, it’s making a strong comeback and has even partnered with a British cider company. The ship is like a large park, featuring 8 apple trees and 400 perennial plants.

The ship also hosts seed-swapping events, and harvested vegetables can be cooked using recipes crowdsourced from visitors. Best of all, all activities are completely free. Harvest-and-cook experiences like this are growing in popularity around the world, with some resorts even taking guests mushroom-picking directly.

Although the exact opening date for this year hasn’t been announced yet, it will generally start in April and run through October.
