Taiwan’s pride and world bread champion Chef Wu Pao-chun creates deeply moving and delicious bread using local Taiwanese ingredients. Recently, not to be outdone by Japan’s cheese tarts, he and his team have launched a brand-new “TAKE SMILE Smile Tower.” It features specially selected Hokkaido naturally grazed butter cheese, combined with locally sourced small-farm fresh milk that boasts a natural milky aroma, and top-grade Grade AA Taiwanese eggs to create a rich yet not overly sweet cheese filling. The filling is encased in layers of crispy tart pastry, which is shaped by freezing, brushed with egg wash, and then baked. The final product emerges golden and crisp on the outside, wrapping a tender, semi-crispy cheese filling inside. One bite releases an explosion of rich flavor and aroma.

The “TAKE SMILE Smile Tower” went on sale on March 30 at the Wu Pao Chun Maison branches in Eslite Songyan and the flagship store in Kaohsiung. This cheese tart has a light and guilt-free texture, setting it apart from most cheese tarts on the market—it’s a cheese tart with a uniquely Taiwanese flavor.
