Located about six kilometers from downtown Yilan and covering an area of 17 hectares, it is the largest lake in Yilan. The scenery changes throughout the day, offering different enchanting views. At dawn, as the morning light breaks, the sight is especially spectacular. Many people come here early in the morning to exercise, take walks, and greet the day with the beautiful scenery.

Longtan Lake is well-planned, featuring parking lots and restrooms, while the designed walking paths still preserve much of the natural ecology. Every spot within the scenic area is photogenic. Entry is free, and there’s a large grassy area where kids can run freely. It’s common to see families cycling, exercising, and relaxing here, making it a great place to spend the whole day.

There’s also a slide that kids love – but it’s not your ordinary one. This oversized slide is called “Dragon Palm Slope,” featuring a large recessed area shaped like a bowl. It’s built using the slightly elevated small hill next to the Longtan Lakeside Walking Path, creating an optical illusion of a bowl shape due to the depressed terrain. However, unlike typical single or double slides, this open design could lead to collisions or crowding, so parents should accompany their children. While having fun, safety is also important.
