The Future World Arrives: A Space-Descending Skyscraper

As climate constantly changes, population continuously rises, and urban density increases, the effects are not only soaring housing prices but also declining quality and environment. In such a daunting situation, the American Clouds Architecture Office (CAO) has proposed a bold and radical design: a skyscraper suspended from space and descending to Earth. CAO named this structure the Analemma Tower. Upon completion, the tower’s movement will follow an 8-shaped figure-eight path known as an analemma, allowing its residents to view the entire globe within just one day.

The base of the skyscraper will be suspended from an orbiting asteroid, connected to the building via sturdy cables, and descend from outer space to Earth, with the tower’s base hanging 32 kilometers above the ground. The building will be powered by solar energy and obtain water from clouds and rain. Its construction materials will also be extremely durable, lightweight, and resilient—such as carbon fiber and aluminum. From caves to today’s high-rises, buildings have grown taller and lighter. They believe that one day structures will detach from the Earth’s surface and avoid natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and tsunamis.
