Healing New JiMi Attraction: Zhubei’s Super Instagrammable Energy Education Center

TSMC and National Chiao Tung University held the opening ceremony of the "TSMC-NCTU Energy Education Center" on April 21 at TSMC's Hsinchu plant. Located within the Hsinchu Science Park at the intersection of Park Road 2 and Park Road 3, the site is open for reservation-based visits by schools and the general public. During the opening period, JiMi’s “Wishing Child” will also be on display for one month, symbolizing a shared wish for the development of green energy. This education center combines NCTU’s intelligent education and TSMC’s green energy resources to construct a comprehensive, world-class green building, serving as a showcase base for Taiwan’s green energy education and further contributing to the realization of green education and green cities in Taiwan.

The Energy Education Center was built by TSMC and National Chiao Tung University through enhanced structural design, upgraded eco-friendly materials, and integrated smart environmental controls. It can be considered an upgraded version of the "Orchid House," which won four awards in France. The center is equipped with a sophisticated central computer intelligence system that effectively maintains a low-energy, highly comfortable living environment. Through water resource recycling and solar power glass, it not only achieves self-sufficiency but also contributes surplus electricity to the science park. In addition to featuring green energy laboratories and technology experience areas, it also embodies environmental protection concepts. By encouraging hands-on interaction, it enhances the public’s imagination regarding sustainable green energy and smart living.

Society has now transitioned from the information age to the intelligent era. NCTU is actively promoting its transformation into a next-generation innovative and creative ICT industry (Innovation and Creation Technology). Students can not only accumulate skills through hands-on practice but also directly learn the value of teamwork. The Energy Education Center was born out of this vision.
