Affected by a frontal system, the plum rain season has arrived, and temperatures across Taiwan have begun to rise. Monday’s weather is mostly sunny, but on Tuesday the 9th, a weak frontal system will pass through, bringing localized brief showers in the western half of the island from early morning to the morning hours. In the afternoon, there will be localized brief thundershowers in the northern, eastern, and central-southern mountainous areas.

 
Starting on the 10th, there will be localized brief showers in the eastern half of the island, and localized brief thundershowers in the mountainous areas of central and southern Taiwan in the afternoon. From the 11th onward, there will be localized brief thundershowers in the northern region. Between the 10th and 13th, the weather will generally be cloudy with some sunny breaks.

On Mother’s Day, the 14th of May, the frontal system will again affect the region, bringing localized brief showers in central and northern Taiwan as well as the eastern half of the island, while other areas will see cloudy skies with localized brief thundershowers in the afternoon.
 

In terms of temperature, this week will continue to see rising mercury levels. Kinmen, Lienchiang, and Penghu will experience larger day-night temperature variations, with temperatures generally ranging between 20–25°C. Other regions will mostly see temperatures between 24–30°C, while northern parts may also reach highs of 32°C. Southern areas such as Pingtung could see temperatures as high as 35°C. For Mother’s Day, which many are watching closely, temperatures will be slightly lower, with highs generally around 28–29°C. This week also sees a high chance of rainfall — although showers are expected to be brief, it’s wise to carry an umbrella when going out.
