The Centennial Station Transforms into a 3D Light Sculpture as the 2017 Light Art Festival Grandly Kicks Off

Light projection shows have become a global trend, with iconic landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House, the Prague Light Festival, and even New Taipei City’s Christmasland and the Taipei 101 New Year’s Eve fireworks display all using 3D light art to create magical atmospheres. To promote local tourism and culture, the Taichung Light Art Festival—now in its fourth year—has specially created dazzling 3D light projections and light theaters this year (2017), breathing unforgettable memories into the century-old Taichung Railway Station.

The Taichung Railway Station, which boasts a century of history, officially retired in October 2016. To give everyone a chance to express their fond farewell to the historic station, the 2017 Taichung Light Art Festival has specially created interactive projection installations that bring the centennial station back to life at night. Past landmarks such as the Lake Heart Pavilion in Taichung’s Century Park and the artsy Taichung National Theater have all left deep impressions on visitors. This year’s performance promises to be unprecedented, lighting up the entire city and the historic site.
