More breathtaking than Eagle Rock Peak: Weishui Hill in Yilan offers grand scenic views

The once-hidden Eagle Rock Peak in Toucheng, Yilan, became an internet sensation thanks to its sweeping views, drawing crowds of visitors hoping to snap the perfect photo. But due to geological and safety risks, it was closed at the end of 2016, much to the disappointment of many. Later, however, some netizens discovered another spot in the樱花陵园 (Cherry Blossom Cemetery) in Jiaoxi, Yilan — Weishui Hill. Perched on an 800-meter-high platform that extends from the building, it offers sweeping views of the vast Lanyang Plain and even a distant glimpse of Guishan Island. Seen as the “Eagle Rock Peak 2.0,” it quickly became another popular hidden gem online. However, the viewpoint is actually located behind protective railings, and visitors climbing over them has proven too dangerous. In response, the Yilan County Government has put up signs warning people not to climb.
