MUJI’s minimalist holiday cabin unveiled in latest design

As the ultimate representative of minimalist style, MUJI has created a clean and refreshing home aesthetic loved by many. Beyond furniture, clothing, and accessories, MUJI has also begun to expand into areas such as housing construction, flower shops, and coffee shops. Following the MUJI HOUSE initiative launched since 2000 and the MUJI HUT in 2015, 2017 saw the unveiling of a brand-new project: “MUJI’s Cabin,” announced for official release in autumn. This holiday cabin covers just 9.1 + 3.1 square meters, totaling approximately 3.7 tsubo (about 3.7 square meters), once again pushing the boundaries of minimalist architectural design. Currently available only in Japan for pre-order, the price is 3 million yen, with a warranty of 1 to 5 years depending on the location.

MUJI’s holiday cabin is 100% made in Japan, using cedar wood treated with special waterproofing techniques. It employs traditional Japanese shipbuilding methods to enhance durability, and the floor uses mortar to prevent moisture. The design retains its minimalist style, featuring a sloped, high ceiling and a porch of about 3 square meters outside the door, making the cabin not only spacious but also well-lit, offering a thoroughly relaxing space.
