Recently, visitors to Xindian’s Sunshine Sports Park and sharp-eyed cyclists spotted a new attraction and exclaimed, “Did Bumblebee from Transformers come to Sunshine Bridge?” They rushed to take photos. This robot resembling Bumblebee is called "Iron Horse Bumblebee (Bike Bumblebee)." It was created by the New Taipei City High Ground Management Office using dismantled abandoned bicycles. Local street artists Deng Jiaming and Ye Fangzhi, both metalwork welders, collaborated to build this large-scale robot, hence the name Iron Horse Bumblebee.
Iron Horse Bumblebee (Bike Bumblebee), with its Transformers-like appearance, has sparked a wave of visitor photo opportunities.
Originally stationed under Xinyue Bridge, keeping daily company to local residents, the robot became hugely popular among visitors who flocked to take pictures. Some suggested moving Iron Horse Bumblebee to various riverside parks so that more robot-loving children and adults could enjoy this public art installation. In response, the New Taipei City High Ground Management Office began planning in mid-April to relocate this Transformers-inspired Bumblebee—Iron Horse Bumblebee—to Sunshine Sports Park. The "Iron Horse Bumblebee" not only draws the attention of passersby and fitness enthusiasts but also captivates both children and adults as well as nearby residents, all eager to snap photos. At night, when illuminated alongside Sunshine Bridge and the swan light sculptures, it further enriches the park’s nighttime scenery.
Visiting Sunshine Sports Park at night also allows you to see the illuminated figure of Iron Horse Bumblebee (Bike Bumblebee).
While taking fun photos with the large and cool Iron Horse Bumblebee at Xindian’s Sunshine Sports Park, remember to take care of it—do not climb on it. Bike Bumblebee will also be stationed at other parks in the future, giving more children and adults the chance to see it.
