Hualien is set to welcome a new world-class hotel attraction. The Dongyu Group has invested NT$5 billion to build the super six-star "Le Méridien Jessie Hualien" at Dongyang Plaza in Hualien City. The topping-out ceremony has been held, with completion scheduled for the end of 2019, making it a new landmark in Eastern Taiwan that combines a shopping mall, department store, and resort hotel.

Floors 1 to 5 of Le Méridien Jessie Hualien will house a shopping mall, while the 6th floor will feature a nearly thousand-square-meter sky garden. Floors 6 to 21 will comprise the super six-star hotel, offering 280 guest rooms, along with additional facilities such as a hot spring and a family playroom. Upon completion, it will not only attract more tourists to Hualien but also create thousands of job opportunities.
