Taichung’s new waterfront photo spot, the Waterfront Corridor, looks great day and night

Taichung has a new waterfront attraction. The Taichung Water Resources Bureau    has set up landscape art, a waterside promenade, and three-dimensional text landmarks on the left bank of the Fazih River section from Yongchun East Road to the Taichung High-Speed Rail Station, creating an 1.8-kilometer "Gateway Welcome Waterfront Corridor" that combines riverside scenery and water-friendly spaces. Currently, the project is 90% complete and will open for visits in March.

The Fazih River is a centrally managed river. Some sections of its high bank areas were overgrown with weeds due to their remote locations. In line with the cooperative model of "central drainage improvement and local environmental enhancement," the city government prioritized the left bank high bank area of the river section from the High-Speed Rail Station to Yongchun East Road for landscape and environmental development. Professional teams were invited to conduct ecological surveys before and after construction. Balancing flood prevention, ecology, culture, and landscape, they created a world-class welcome river.

The overall landscape planning for the Fazih River is complete, and work is in full swing on projects such as the top of the dike pathway, landscape art, and planting. Among them, the gabion landscape art uses locally sourced materials, arranging the existing gravel of the Fazih River, stretching a total length of about 2 kilometers, creating a uniquely local landscape. The overall landscape project is expected to be completed by the end of the year, providing a high-quality riverside view and water-friendly space.
