High-altitude scenic walkway opens during holiday; seven traffic management measures for Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival holiday is here, and the aroma of zongzi fills the air across Taiwan. This year’s holiday is different from previous ones, as a new tourism highlight—the first barrier-free high-altitude mountain skywalk in Taiwan, the Qingjing Farm High-Altitude Viewing Walkway—will hold its grand opening ceremony on May 27 (Saturday), the first day of the holiday. Coupled with the peak blooming season of azaleas at Hehuanshan, this poses a significant traffic challenge. The Nantou County Police Bureau has formulated and implemented seven traffic management measures. Visitors planning a family trip to Nantou must pay special attention to traffic conditions and updates on CMS variable message signs. Additionally, please note that the high-altitude walkway currently operates on a “reservation-only” basis—visitors without prior reservations are advised not to visit spontaneously.

For other popular tourist spots such as Zinan Temple, Xitou, Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, and Sun Moon Lake, besides tuning in to Traffic Radio and National Traffic Radio for real-time traffic updates, visitors can also check live feeds via the Police I Nantou app and Nantou Scenic Area live feeds. Travelers are encouraged to be aware of the county’s congested roads and time periods, and to avoid them or take alternative routes when possible.
