Steve Jobs' final masterpiece: Apple's new HQ completed, pizza box patent steals the spotlight

It has been five years since Steve Jobs passed away. Before his death, he was still involved in unfinished projects, and now one of them is set to be unveiled. Apple's brand-new headquarters in California has recently been completed. This posthumous work of Jobs—Apple Park, the office campus—can be described as built without compromise. Spanning 175 acres, roughly the size of 85 football fields, the main building features a futuristic, spaceship-like curved design, utilizing the world’s largest curved glass panels and renewable energy sources such as solar power. Yet among the many astonishing designs and patents, Apple even applied for a patent on its own pizza box—truly unique.

Apple’s spaceship-like new headquarters has been completed, and many international media outlets were invited inside for a tour, exploring every detail of the facility and admiring the overall architectural design. Although the layout of the new HQ is quite captivating, the most talked-about feature is Apple’s patented pizza box. What makes this pizza box special is that it is covered with numerous small and large air vents designed to allow heat and moisture to escape, preventing the pizza from getting soggy and keeping the crust crispy.

The materials used for the pizza box also reflect Apple’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, being made from recyclable materials. The sides of the box are constructed from sturdy materials, and the lid features a secure clasp. Not only does it ensure the pizza stays intact, but it also resembles a sleek, minimalist briefcase. The clean, seamless, one-piece design of the pizza box—and its no-assembly-required structure—are very much in line with Apple’s signature style.

This is not the first time Apple has designed containers. In addition to the pizza box, it has also designed and patented a paper bag. This paper bag not only uses eco-friendly materials but also features some impressive improvements—for example, the handles are made from circularly knitted paper fibers, reinforcing the folds and seams to completely prevent accidental tearing.

Apple’s new headquarters aims to be an environmentally friendly complex. Features such as the curved glass panels, 100% renewable energy, forested and grassy grounds, along with a naturally lit and ventilated design that eliminates the need for lights and air conditioning all year round, are all intended to make employees feel unconfined—hoping to boost their productivity to handle any unexpected situations. This remarkable creation has also led many to speculate that the iPhone 8 will be unveiled in the “Steve Jobs Theater” within the new headquarters.
