2017 Rock the Universiade: A Thousand-Voice Performance with Chairman Band and Quarterback Band

A large-scale Taiwanese rock concert with a thousand performers will be held this Sunday, May 28, at the Liberty Square of Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. The event will be headlined by the Chairman Band, Quarterback Band, child performer Lin Yi with a rare disease, the Taipei Philharmonic Community Orchestra, conductor Lin Tianji, as well as a "Rock Star Team" composed of musicians from several mid-career independent bands in Taiwan. This event aims to use music to rally the public to join in the 2017 Taipei Universiade, employing both music and sports — two universal languages — to convey the spirit of the Taipei Universiade to the world.

The event kicks off at 15:30 with a dynamic performance by the I-WANT Star Power group, creators of the Taipei Universiade theme song, featuring adorable mascots Bear Chang (Xiong Zan), UU酱, and BeBe. The host is Huang Zi Jiao, and Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je will also be present. A group of mid-career rock musicians forming the “Rock Star Team” will lead the audience in a rendition of the song "As High As the Sky." This will be followed by speeches and performances from the Chairman Band, Quarterback Band, and Lin Yi. Mickey’s young son from the Quarterback Band also performs a solo drum piece at a very young and adorable age.
