The Yilan Edition of Brown Sugar Avenue Event Has Kicked Off – The Golden Sea of Rice Is Simply Enchanting

Taitung’s Brown Sugar Avenue features an endless winding road through a vast sea of rice, with the open landscape creating a relaxing and rejuvenating atmosphere. Yilan’s Dongshan Township also boasts a Brown Sugar Avenue, known as the Yilan Edition. Stretching approximately 2 kilometers in length and 5 meters in width, it lies between Fengzun Temple and Xiesong Road in Sanqi Village. Along the route are 9 S-shaped curves, with no power poles in sight. Every year from May to June, when the rice ripens, it resembles a giant dragon lying amidst golden rice stalks. Whether you walk or cycle through, you can enjoy the scenic beauty of the rice fields and rural life. Venturing into the narrow ridges between the fields, you can even breathe in the rich aroma of rice and earth.

Each year in June, when the rice is ripe, Dongshan Township also hosts a series of events to promote the local characteristics and scenic beauty of Sanqi Village. The 2017 Sanqi Brown Sugar Avenue Series includes a light cycling tour in Dongshan, a high-altitude photography competition, DIY landscape art, and blogger article sharing.
