Food trucks spark conversations and draw crowds—Tainan’s Nuofu sticky rice cakes are a must-try hit

“Everyone has a flavor they just can’t let go of.” In recent years, a young man in Tainan has been appearing in streets and alleys on an old-fashioned bicycle, carrying a bucket of sticky rice cakes. His sign reads “Nuofu,” and he markets himself online, aiming to carry on the traditional sticky rice cakes made by his grandmother.

Nuofu Sticky Rice Cakes were created by Liu Yuqiao from Tainan. Riding his grandfather’s nearly 60-year-old vintage bicycle, he delivers delicious sticky rice cakes filled with traditional memories as a wandering vendor. The Nuofu rice cakes often sell out instantly, and in addition to the mobile stand, there’s also a home delivery service, allowing more people in Taiwan to enjoy the Tainan-style sticky rice cakes that taste like grandma’s cooking.
