Summer floral seas and golden rice waves take center stage, alongside the must-see golden shower trees along the pathways, the magnificent purple-pink Lagerstroemia speciosa also burst into bloom. The flowering period of the Lagerstroemia speciosa runs from May to August. In winter, its leaves gradually turn from green to orange-red, while in summer, it shows off vibrant purple blooms. These flowers grow in conical clusters at the tips of branches, with petals that have a unique lace-like texture on their surfaces and edges. Lagerstroemia speciosa is one of the flowering street trees widely planted by the government. Aside from being spotted in Chiayi Park and the streets of Kaohsiung, it can also be admired along Zhonghuan Road in Taichung, up to the area near Gōngyì Road.
