Due to the influence of the southwest airflow, areas north of central Taiwan, southeastern Taiwan (including Green Island and Orchid Island), as well as coastal and nearby offshore areas of Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu will experience strong gusts of wind at levels 9 to 10. Coastal areas will also see relatively large waves—please stay vigilant.
The impact of this frontal system will last until around June 20. The Central Weather Bureau has issued torrential rain and heavy rain special alerts for 18 counties and cities including Taipei, New Taipei, and Keelung. Although it is not as severe as the previous occasion (June 3–4), which saw extremely heavy and super heavy rain warnings, sudden, intense downpours should not be underestimated. The heaviest rainfall is expected from Friday to Sunday, so extra caution is advised when going out.
