1. Miaoli County Tai’an Township — U-Gayen Bamboo Tunnel
This mysterious bamboo tunnel is located in the mountainous area of Tai’an Township, Miaoli, beneath the U-Gayen Camping Area. Similar to the bamboo grove paths of Kyoto’s Arashiyama, the towering bamboo forest creates a scene reminiscent of those in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or wuxia novels, with its serene ambiance that is truly captivating.

2. Nantou Lugu Township — Mengzong Bamboo Forest Ancient Battlefield
Also located in Lugu Township, the Mengzong Bamboo Forest Ancient Battlefield has recently become a hot topic among netizens as a hidden bamboo sea destination. Located on the southern embankment of the Puzi River in Liujiao Township, Chiayi County, this spot features over a hundred “bitter melon trees,” stretching approximately 2.5 kilometers—it’s considered the longest “bitter melon tree green tunnel” in Taiwan. The evergreen color is a common yet beautiful sight, and every March and April, small pale purple and white flowers bloom, filling the air with their delicate fragrance, adding a delightful spring vibe.
