Penguins Soar in the Sky: Japanese Aquarium Creates an Aerial Pool

Located in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, Sunshine Aquarium is designed as an oasis in the sky. Visitors can observe the ecology of various marine creatures and enjoy recreational amenities, making it Japan's first aquarium built on a rooftop. The aquarium has recently unveiled a brand-new exhibition space, which opened on July 12. It features five new types of display themes, offering a unique animal viewing experience that is more open and interactive than before.

The five new display themes include Sky Penguins, Prairie Penguins, Otters by the Water, Sky Corridor, and Shining Spring. Among them, the most eye-catching are Sky Penguins and Prairie Penguins—world-first exhibition spaces. In the L-shaped large aquarium tank, the Sky Penguins make it seem as though black-footed penguins are soaring through the city sky, and daily underwater feeding shows are also held.
