The dining brand of the TECO Group, Maido Ookini Shokudo, is launching its winter menu in December for the first time with the theme “Taiwanese flavors on the cafeteria table.” The head chef has incorporated familiar Taiwanese tastes into traditional Japanese home-style dishes—for example, adding basil to Japanese omelet (tamagoyaki), stir-frying minced pork with aged Shaoxing wine from Pulih and savory black bean paste to create “black bean paste minced pork,” and featuring Chiayi’s must-try snack, turkey rice.On November 23, all branches across Taiwan will give away 100 free tasting coupons for turkey rice on the day at 11:00 and 18:00 respectively, while stocks last.

Maido Ookini Shokudo’s winter menu includes beef hot pot with udon noodles and kimchi pork hot pot with udon noodles as the opening dishes, both priced at a warming NT$180. A creative twist on the traditional Japanese oden features minced pork stir-fried with aged Shaoxing wine from Pulih and savory black bean paste, becoming “black bean paste minced pork.” The cafeteria’s classic tamagoyaki is reimagined with a familiar flavor as “basil tamagoyaki.” As for the anchovy dish—a must-try when visiting Enoshima in Japan’s Shonan area—the chef has combined it with Taiwan’s traditional crispy fish floss to create “fish floss anchovy soup.”

Additionally, Chiayi’s turkey rice is famous throughout Taiwan. Maido Ookini Shokudo uses 100% Taiwanese black gold turkey, which costs three times more, to make their turkey rice. The rice is topped with an imported Japanese sauce for added flavor. This fusion of Taiwanese and Japanese flavors is priced at NT$50. On November 23, all branches will give away 100 free tasting coupons for turkey rice on the day at 11:00 and 18:00 respectively, while stocks last.
