Nesat may become a 'heart-piercing' typhoon with land and sea warnings possibly issued as early as the 28th

The Central Weather Bureau has issued a typhoon warning stating:If the typhoon follows its current path without significant changes, a sea and land typhoon warning is expected to be issued at 14:30 today. Currently, the typhoon is located about 140 km east of Taitung on the ocean surface, gradually approaching the Bashi Channel, posing a threat to the Bashi Channel, the southeastern sea area of Taiwan, and the northeastern sea area of Taiwan.

At 8:30 am, the Central Weather Bureau issued a sea typhoon warning. Nesat is currently a mild tropical storm, moving northwest at 16 km/h, with a 7-level gale radius of 150 km. It is positioned at 20.1°N, 125.8°E.

Mild Tropical Storm Nesat (No. 9, international name NESAT), currently centered at 17.4°N, 127.6°E, is moving north-northwest turning northwest at 12 km/h. It is expected that a sea and land typhoon warning will be issued as early as Friday the 28th. Both the United States and China predict the typhoon will make landfall in Taiwan, with the U.S. prediction suggesting Nesat could be a "heart-piercing" typhoon. Japan, however, believes the typhoon will mainly turn northward without making landfall, though its gale radius will graze northeastern Taiwan. The Central Weather Bureau forecasts a landing in the Hualien-Taitung area.
 

The current central pressure of Typhoon Nesat is 990 hPa, with maximum near-center wind speeds of 23 m/s and maximum instantaneous gusts of 30 m/s. Its 7-level wind radius is 120 km. Whether it strengthens after absorbing Pacific moisture is also key. It is currently forecasted to intensify into a medium-strength typhoon, beginning to impact Taiwan’s climate from Friday and Saturday, bringing rain to the southern and eastern parts.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Noru has intensified into a moderate typhoon, predicted to be located 860 km southeast of Tokyo (2,460 km northeast of Taipei) on the morning of the 28th. It will not have a major impact on Taiwan. Travelers in Japan or those planning to depart for Japan soon should monitor its movements.
