It’s ideal for walks, seaside strolls, sunset watching, and train photography for rail enthusiasts. The pathway beneath the observation deck leads to a coastal road, best visited around sunset. On weekends, more vendors set up stalls, making this fun and photogenic destination well worth a special visit.

2. Guogang Old Tunnel
 
In the Houlong area of Miaoli County, where the coastal railway once ran, a century-old tunnel complex—Guogang Old Tunnels—has been transformed into a new tourism highlight following a railway reroute. Recently, the Houlong Township Office secured NT$20 million in funding from the Tourism Bureau to install colorful decorative lighting in the tunnels. Coupled with surrounding sea views, the area has become a new spot for leisurely exploration around the Cape of Good Hope.

3. Houlong Qinghai Temple
 
Amidst Taiwan’s flourishing faith culture, several giant statues of Mazu have been erected to express deep religious devotion. One such statue stands at Houlong Qinghai Temple in Miaoli. From the nearby Cape of Good Hope Scenic Area, visitors can glimpse the majestic image of Mazu from afar, symbolizing national protection. Walking less than 10 minutes south from the temple, apart from enjoying the coastal scenery, you might also witness trains passing by the Mazu statue—sometimes capturing the surreal sight of Mazu “riding” the train. However, visitors are advised to stay safe while taking photos.

4. Sea Corner Paradise
 
At the coastal area of the Cape of Good Hope, a prominent rainbow-shaped landscape can be seen. Originally a landfill site, it has been transformed through artificial landscaping into a popular photo spot and seaside attraction.
