The First Penghu Cross-Sea Marathon Kicks Off in the Most Beautiful Bay

To extend the peak tourism season in Penghu, the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration is organizing the "2017 Chrysanthemum Island Penghu Cross-Sea Marathon." This event is the first AB-point non-loop marathon held on an outlying island in Taiwan and will start at 11:00 AM on November 19 at the Xiyu West Tower Visitor Center in Penghu. Registration opens on August 8.

The route of the "Penghu Cross-Sea Marathon" has been meticulously planned, encircling Grandma’s Penghu Bay and covering coastal areas of Xiyu Township such as the Fishing Harmony Island Lighthouse, Niuxin Mountain, the Great Bay Leaf Basalt, the ancient village cluster, the Penghu Cross-Sea Bridge, and continuing through Zhongtun Village in Baisha Township and Huxi Township to the Guanyin Pavilion in Magong City. This creates a resort-style running route that allows runners from around the world to island-hop and cross the sea by foot, challenging this uniquely scenic and one-of-a-kind cross-sea marathon course on an outlying island.

The Penghu Cross-Sea Marathon features a full marathon (42.195 km), a half marathon (21 km), and a mini marathon (5 km), with a total participant limit of 3,000 people. Online registration begins on August 8 and ends on September 30. Groups of 30 or more participants will receive one free group rest tent.
