Capsule hotels have become a popular lodging trend in recent years and are now a choice for many travelers on business or vacation, though quality can vary greatly. Japan’s The Millennials Kyoto breaks away from the conventional image, creating the world’s most advanced and spacious capsule hotel in the Kawaramachi area of Kyoto. The rooms even feature projection screens, offering a mini theater experience.

Traditional capsule hotels usually have bunk-style rooms with narrow beds that don’t allow you to stand up fully, and lack any communal space. The Millennials Kyoto, however, offers fully independent private rooms with ample space and comfortable bedding. Not only are the beds adjustable and extendable, but there’s also a pull-down, lockable door — and even more impressively, when lowered, it turns into a projection screen, instantly transforming the room into a mini theater.

As a so-called state-of-the-art capsule hotel, the room’s facilities are controlled via a smart app — from adjusting the angle and recline of the bed to setting the lighting brightness, all can be done with just one touch.
