Taiwan’s version of Venice Beach: shell-white sands rivaling world-class beaches

Taiwan boasts abundant marine erosion landscapes and stunning beaches. In addition to the Yilan, Hualien, and Taitung coastlines, Little Liuqiu in Pingtung also features beautiful sandy shores comparable to those in Hawaii. Hanban Bay Beach is the largest accumulation-type sandy shore on Liuqiu Island, and it is quite rare among the mainly coral reef rocky coasts along the coastline. It is a shell sand beach, with a shoreline stretching approximately 100 meters. The beautiful white sand and blue sea have led many to call it Taiwan’s version of Venice Beach.

Little Liuqiu is Taiwan’s only coral island, and the beach landscape of Hanban Bay is relatively unique. The shells along the shore, after being long washed by seawater, gradually form uniformly sized, pure white, and translucent shell sand, resulting in a vast, bright white sandy beach — this is the most captivating sight of Hanban Bay Beach.
