The 600-Second Music Fireworks of Dadaocheng’s Qixi Lover's Day Make a Dazzling Debut

The highly anticipated “Dadaocheng Lover's Day” will kick off romantically this Saturday (August 26) at Yanping Riverside Park (Taipei Water Gates 3-5)! From 3 PM to 9 PM on Saturday, there will be a handmade market by artisans, food trucks, and various fun and attractive booths; the spectacular fireworks show will begin at 8:20 PM, lasting an uninterrupted 600 seconds, accompanied by remix versions of classic love songs across generations — dazzling, romantic, and utterly enjoyable.

Since its launch in June, the “2017 Taipei Riverside Music Festival” reaches its grand finale this week with “Dadaocheng Lover's Day.” This edition of the event has an international flair, featuring Japanese heartthrob Kousuke Atari, Malaysian singer-songwriter Cloverleaf, Taiwan’s classic female vocalist Wakin Chau (also known as China Blue), and the youth-favorite roots reggae band MATZKA, who will take turns performing youth anthems from different eras.

Emphasizing a diverse and cross-genre musical style, this year’s fireworks revolve around the theme of “youth dance music.” The music production is once again helmed by China Blue’s leader Wu Jianhui, remixing timeless Western and Mandarin/Taiwanese hits such as “Moon River,” “Love Express,” “Thinking of You Every Day,” and “Sunshine Everyday” into a fresh and vibrant medley. Special designs including “River Drifting Bottle” and “LOVE” firework patterns will light up the sky, with 600 seconds of fireworks aiming to bring locals and visitors alike together for a romantic summer evening along Taipei’s riverside.

The event also includes a children’s play area and a food truck zone, ensuring fun for all ages throughout the afternoon. It’s the perfect way to wrap up the summer vacation with great memories. Those dressed in bright red festive attire can receive a limited-edition “Longing Drifting Bottle” blessed by the Moon God from Xiahai City God Temple. Meanwhile, the ‘Travel Along the River – Stamp & Win’ event will publicly draw ten lucky winners on the main stage during Dadaocheng Lover's Day on August 26, with prizes including a 3-day, 2-night Star Cruises voyage, classic ukuleles, and vinyl record players.

Traffic control measures will be implemented around Dadaocheng Wharf. Residents are encouraged to use public transportation. Additionally, please note that from 0:00 on August 25 to 24:00 on August 26, the barbecue and picnic areas, facilities, and bicycle rental services between Guilin (Taipei Water Gate 1) and Dunhuang (Taipei Water Gate 6) evacuation gates at Yanping Riverside Park will be temporarily suspended. Traffic controls and partial roadside parking suspensions will be in effect on the day of the event. The public is advised to take public transport, apply sun protection, and stay hydrated to avoid heatstroke.
