So-called secret spots have been mostly developed across Taiwan, this island nation. But venture to its outlying islands, and you’ll still find hidden treasures. In Baisha Township, Penghu, there’s a winding pier that curls like a serpent into the sea—dubbed the “Heavenly Road” of the outlying islands, it offers endless visual imagination. Compared to Hsinchu’s Sea Sound, it exudes an even more isolated and otherworldly charm.

This hidden spot is located in Houliu Village, Donggang, Baisha Township—a long-abandoned old pier that even locals may not know about, preserving its rustic, untouched vibe. Unlike Hsinchu’s Sea Sound, the dike here is much narrower and more serpentine in shape.Travelers are advised not to visit during bad weather, to stay safe while taking photos, and to avoid littering. Consider bringing a plastic bag to carry trash away and help clean up the beach.
