Even wave-dissipating blocks can become sci-fi scenes: A hidden fishing port gem in Kinmen

In the past, many people’s impression of Kinmen, an offshore island, was limited to sorghum, candied floss, and a strong military vibe. Aside from the historic relics left from wartime, Kinmen actually hides many lesser-known beautiful landscapes.

Located on the rocky coast in the southwest of Jinhu Township, “Xinhuei Fishing Port” is one of the three largest-scale fishing ports in Kinmen. It boasts vast sandy beaches, a bunker observation deck, Mazu Park, and the most photogenic wave-dissipating block scenery.

Xinhuei Fishing Port is a Category II fishing port, situated in the coastal area closest to the downtown of Jinhu Township. It is not only home to the Kinmen District Fishermen's Association and the largest fishery facilities and operational base in the region, but also combines the surrounding environment, including east and west breakwaters, to become a seaside park that blends faith and recreation.
