Typhoon Krosa (No. 17) may form as early as today, affecting Taiwan from the 5th

Typhoon Krosa (No. 17) is expected to form as early as the 4th, located about 1,000 kilometers southeast of the southernmost point of Taiwan, and is gradually moving toward the Bashi Channel. The outer cloud bands of the tropical depression and the typhoon will begin affecting Taiwan from the 5th. It is forecast that the typhoon will weaken as it approaches Taiwan, but vigilance should not be relaxed.

In addition, the Central Weather Bureau has issued heavy rain alerts for 14 counties and cities, including New Taipei, Taoyuan, Miaoli, Taichung, Nantou, Yunlin, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Hsinchu, Hualien, Taitung, Chiayi County and City, and Pingtung. Travelers should be sure to carry rain gear when going out.
