A minimal typhoon named Guchol has formed and a land warning cannot be ruled out

The 17th typhoon, Guchol (international name: GUCHOL), formed on the 6th. A sea warning was issued at 10:30 AM. Its center is located at 20.3°N, 120.4°E, moving northwest at 9 km per hour. There is a possibility of landfall and issuance of a land warning in the forecast path. Special attention should be paid to areas such as Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung. The outer circulation will affect central and southern Taiwan, so weather changes must be closely monitored. Currently, the typhoon’s central pressure is 998 hPa, with maximum sustained winds of 18 m/s near the center and maximum gusts of 25 m/s. The radius of the 7-level wind zone is 80 km.  

Affected by the typhoon and its outer circulation, there will be brief showers in eastern and southeastern Taiwan as well as the Kaohsiung-Pingtung area on the 6th. Other regions, as well as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, will mostly be cloudy to sunny, with localized brief thunderstorms in areas south of Yunlin and in Nantou in the afternoon. On the 7th, there will still be brief showers in central and southern Taiwan, southeastern areas, and Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu. Other areas will have cloudy to sunny weather, with localized brief thunderstorms in northern and northeastern areas and other mountainous regions in the afternoon.
