Trying cocktails at traditional Chinese medicine shops in Dadaocheng, trial pedestrian zone on Dihua Street during holidays

The Dihua business district has created a pedestrian-friendly space. The Taipei City Government’s Department of Transportation and the Dihua Business District Development Promotion Association have collaborated to trial a holiday pedestrian zone in September. In response to the trial, the business district has connected with local resources to launch 34 events themed “Dadaocheng Freestyle!”

During the event, the Dadaocheng business district specially arranged for Chinese medicine shop owners to become bartenders, launching five signature cocktails based on traditional Chinese herbal ingredients. These include love jade plum sour salsa, snow frog rosehip tea, and sour plum tequila gelato drinks. They also organized a “Herbal Experience Group” where participants can try all five signature drinks at once. Participating businesses include the second-generation owners of five traditional Chinese medicine shops—Zhengxin Pharmaceutical, Liantong Hanfang, Liuan Hall Herbal Medicine Shop, Changf Herbal Medicine, and Baiheng Herbs—who combine over 200 years of herbal expertise with modern creativity to inject new possibilities into the future of the traditional Chinese medicine industry.

The Dihua Street pedestrian zone trial runs every Sunday in September from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, covering the section between Guisui Street and Nanjing West Road. On the final trial day, September 24, the business district plans to collaborate with traditional Chinese medicine shops as well as new ventures like “Fraser” and “Lu Bar” to host the “Dadaocheng Herbal Party.” The party will offer innovative cocktails and light food buffets centered around herbal Chinese medicine, along with live DJ performances, serving as the “closing event” of the pedestrian zone trial.
