Top 4 World Heritage Day Sites Recommended – Presidential Office Open for Free Until Night

Every year, the third Saturday and Sunday of September are designated as "World Heritage Day" to promote Taiwan’s rich cultural legacy. Local governments across the island have organized a series of heritage site tours, among which the most popular attraction is the Presidential Office. On September 16 (Saturday), the Presidential Office will open its doors to visitors free of charge, and for the first time this year, it will remain open until nighttime. In addition, four other heritage site events in different counties and cities are also recommended.

1. Taipei City Presidential Office
Besides being able to visit the lobby and the Grand Hall, there will also be a rich array of art and cultural exhibitions, including permanent exhibits such as “The Office – Constructed,” “The Office – Daily Life,” “The Office – Era,” “The Office – Sound,” “The Office – Imagination,” “The Office – Flavor,” and “The Office – Me.” There will also be special exhibitions like “Chen Cheng-po Painting Exhibition” and “Design m/M Taiwan,” along with the Lounge and gardens in both the North and South courtyards. Additionally, a lively performance by a pop music band will take place in the third-floor Grand Hall.
 
Opening Hours: Starting from 8:00 AM on September 16 (Saturday), 2017, the queue will close at 8:00 PM, but the site will remain open until all queuing visitors have finished their tour.
Visiting Route: Enter via the control points at Baoqing Road and Bo’ai Road, turn left to line up in front of the Lixing Building, go through security check, then turn right to enter the Presidential Office through the main gate.

2. New Taipei City – Tamsui

The New Taipei City Tamsui Heritage Museum is hosting a series of activities titled “Exploring World Heritage x Fashion Show,” featuring seven free guided tours led by professional guides. These tours will introduce visitors to famous sites such as the Tamsui Fort San Domingo, the Former British Consular Residence (Little White House), and the Sunset Mystery Wharf. Additionally, the “Heritage vs. Fashion Show” will use the iconic Fort San Domingo and Customs Wharf as backdrops, providing professional photography lighting for Instagram-worthy photos.
